From the book: How do you manage a selfish leader?
This book is intended for all who are leaders or who work under a leader. Although Marie, whom you will meet in the book, is a middle manager, it could just as well be your own self or someone you care for in the predicament she encounters in this story. You do not need to be a boss to understand Marie’s situation and what it feels to lose yourself.
Most places of work are not for children. This statement applies in both a literal and a metaphorical sense. Many clever and hard-working people suffer relatively many bruises at their work. In this context, we don’t mean it’s because of the physical work they do.
These are the invisible bruises caused by words and actions that weigh heavy on the employee. Many designate them as politics. When these “politicians” grow egocentric, manipulating, and overstep their limits, they are guilty of what I call selfish leadership.
